America, UAE and France lead
the list of countries winning the World Endurance Championship title mostly. It witnessed
the dominance of American riders in its titles since its inception in 1986, until the version
organized by the UAE in the year 1998, when 4 riders exchanged titles, Becky Hurt, who
won the title 3 times, Villari Knafi, achieving twice, and Daniel Knafi, winning it once.

French rider, Maya Kella broke the American monopoly when she was crowned the title of
the eighth edition that was held in France, then the UAE crawl began to be present in this
competition when His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum
became the first Arab rider and the youngest in the world to win the title, in the ninth edi-
tion hosted by Spain.

The UAE organized the championship in its second edition, and the American title was won
by Barbara Lisario, and this is the last time an American knight won the championship so
far respectively in 2008 and 2010.
In London 2012, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum won the individu-
al title, and led the Emirates riders to the team title, and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin
Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum maintained the Emirati supremacy after he snatched
the individual title in France 2014.

Spain returned to the top of the tournament that was held in Slovakia in 2016, when veter-
an Joma Ponte was crowned the title, and the sixteenth edition hosted by the state of
North Carolina in 2018 was canceled, while the pandemic caused the postponement of the
seventeenth edition 2020 to be held in 2021 in the Italian city of Pisa during which the
rider, Salem Hamad Malhouf Al Ketbi, added the UAE's fourth title in singles.

Spain was the only one to win the team championship, as it won the title 4 times, the first
in Germany 2006, and the second and third in the 2014 and 2016 championships, before
achieving the title for the fourth time in the 2021 championship.
The UAE won the title 3 times in a row, first in Malaysia 2008, then in the United States of
America 2010, then Britain 2012. France also won the title 3 times in the 1992, 1994 and
2000 editions, while Britain won the title twice, and Italy, New Zealand and Australia won
the title once.
