The World Endurance Championship is being held in Butheeb according to the
highest standards, especially regarding the implementation of various sustain-

ability initiatives, an effort from the Organizing Committee to set new standards
for endurance, riding, as this version of the championship is environment friendly,
happening for the first time ever. This comes in line with the declaration of His

Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United
Arab Emirates, (may God protect him), that 2023 will be the year of sustainability
as per the strategic initiative of the UAE to reduce emissions and achieve the

climate neutrality by 2050, making UAE the first country in the Middle East and
North Africa to achieve its goal of climate neutrality.

The championship, which is called the Green Championship, will consider the major
environmental aspects such as recycling of plastic packages, reducing the water

usage, reutilizing it for use in the field of agriculture etc. thereby promoting sus-
tainability initiatives and spreading awareness among the public and participants
to show the state’s effort in this area of innovation.
